New York PC Repair

While we are great at servicing Apple computers these days as well, PC repair is our true specialty and always will be. With the PC, our technical staff are masters. This is something that holds true for a lot of technicians in fact, since most of us grew up using and playing with PC computers instead of Macs. It wasn’t until the last 5-10 years that the Mac started gaining real popularity and putting a dent in the PC market share. It wasn’t until then that all of us PC nerds had to start learning Apple products to catch up! With that said, if you are looking for PC repair in Orange, CA, we can say with all the confidence in the world that our company has got you covered.

One of the main issues that has always affected the PC, (although these days we are seeing it more and more on Mac computer systems as well), is viruses, malware, adware, spyware, and now ransom-ware. Malware is the cause of popups, and these malicious pieces of software can often times corrupt your Windows operating system, forcing users to either need a computer tune up or a fresh installation of Windows all together.

The History of Microsoft Windows

Microsoft Windows was first introduced in 1985 as the first graphical shell of the popular MS-Dos, and also as a response to the graphical OS that Apple had released one year prior dubbed Mac OS. While in many ways copying Apple’s product, Windows would end up taking 90% of the home computer market share launching the PC as the dominantly used computer for the next 30+ years in the world. Windows has grown and changed a lot over the years, and many of us can remember as far back as version 3.1.

Microsoft has had a tradition of releasing one bad version of Windows, followed by a good one fixing the previous versions mistakes. Windows 95 was vilified, where as Windows 98 was praised. Windows 2000 and Millennium had major problems, only to be followed by Windows XP which was regarded as one of the safest and most stable operating systems ever. Up until just a few years ago, many corporate machines still ran on Windows XP. Next came Windows Vista, which may have been Microsoft’s worst PC operating system, only to be followed by Windows 7 which was generally regarded as great. Windows 8 came next, and while fast and stable people largely hated the way it looked and how difficult it was to navigate. Windows 10 was their most recent OS release, which is known to be the fastest, cleanest, and most stable OS they have released yet.

In the future, it is rumored that Windows will just be known as “Windows” and there won’t be any versions attached…. like many other types of software these days it will be updated regularly from the inside out. There is also speculation that Windows will be a subscriber based software as opposed to the licensed method it has employed since inception.
